Philanthropy

The Lawrence C Ng Family Foundation is a grant-making organization founded in 2009. It is dedicated to supporting non-profits whose mission is to create brighter futures for underprivileged youths through education, mentorship and career guidance.  Lawrence was educated in the public school systems and strongly believes that providing the best education and mentorship are key factors to success.

The foundation has provided funds for two charter schools:

  • Synergy Academies, a Los Angeles-based charter school that has opened an elementary, middle, and high school to support the lower-income students in South Central LA.
  • John V. Lindsay Wildcat Charter School in New York City to help upgrade its computer lab. This school provides students aged 16 – 21 with the personalized educational experiences they need to build successful futures by overcoming the economic, social and personal challenges that caused them to fail in other high schools.

Other organizations that are supported include the Asian Pacific Community Fund, a network of community organizations focused on enhancing the lives of Asian Pacific Islanders throughout Los Angeles County, and The Painted Turtle, a camp for children who are faced with life threatening and chronic illnesses.
